FAQ’S

  • Amber Vonhoff Psychology consulting room is located at 8/100 Burnett Street, Buderim within Buderim Psychology Clinic and shares the same carpark as Aimee Province High Tea Parlour. 

    Parking is available in the complex, and towards the back of the building. If you do not find a carpark here, there is street parking along Burnett street which will allow a few minutes to walk. 

    Please allow additional time for parking before appointments as the roads leading into Buderim become busy during school drop off hours.

  • Clients may be eligible for a referral from a GP or a psychiatrist called a Mental Health Treatment Plan which offers a rebate towards the service fee for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. 

    After we have received your payment you can claim through medicare directly, or Amber Vonhoff Psychology can process this claim on your behalf through online claiming systems. Medicare advises that these funds will appear in your bank account within 2-3 business days.

    If you have completed a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) referral in the last 6 months, you will not need a new one.  However, you will require a referral letter from your GP to book your first appointment. This letter from your GP will need to state the number of sessions you are referred for (typically 6 or 4), and which plan you are referred under (ie, Mental Health Treatment Plan ).

    If you have a copy of your MHTP – please bring this with you to your first appointment, along with the referral letter. Or ask your GP to address the referral to the following details:

  • Financial supports: If you’re eligible, you may be able to access services with the following financial supports:

    • Mental Health Treatment Plan

    • Private Health Insurance

    • NDIS (Self or Plan managed)

    Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTP): Your GP, paediatrician, and/or psychiatrist may decide you are eligible for a MHTP. They can complete a MHTP and refer you for psychological treatment sessions. A MHTP entitles you to up to 10 sessions per calendar year that are eligible for a Medicare rebate. This will reduce the cost of your treatment. For clinical psychology services, you will receive $141.85 as a rebate following full payment of your service/ account.

    • Fee payable $240

    • Medicare rebate $141.85

    • Out of pocket expense $98.15

    Private Health Insurance: Your private health fund may provide rebates for psychological services. Please confirm your eligibility with your provider before making a booking.

  • Due to Amber’s availability and to best ensure continuity of your care, it is recommended that you consider booking your appointments in advance. If you are a new client, Amber will discuss this with you in the first consultation. If you are an existing client, we encourage you to use the online booking system to book your appointments, allowing a 2-3 appointments in advance. Remember, you can always cancel them if your schedule or circumstances change. 

  • The therapeutic alliance (working relationship between client and therapist) is an important factor in the outcomes of your therapy and how well you make change. Taking time to reflect, provide feedback, and make decisions about your therapy is an important process and highly encouraged. 

    If you do not think that Amber is a good fit for you, or the therapeutic alliance is not benefitting you, you are encouraged to speak with Amber. She will adjust your therapy together or assist you in connecting with a new therapist and referring you onto them.
